Beware of Jobs Offer Scams

About Scammers Offering Fake Job Offers:
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has unfortunately witnessed a surge in deceptive job offers, with healthcare professionals, including doctors, as their prime targets. These perpetrators, often individuals outside the healthcare field, but occasionally even healthcare workers at lower levels like technicians and nurses are responsible for these scams. They operate either independently or as part of networks dedicated to fraudulent job offers. The majority of these scammers do not reside in the UAE but operate from their home countries to evade legal consequences. They are hesitant to reveal their addresses or meet in person, using UAE WhatsApp numbers for their deceitful activities.
How They Identify Their Victims:
In most cases, these scammers will initiate contact with you, or someone might refer you to them. They obtain your details and contacts from the CVs and job search posts you upload on various platforms. Their primary targets are healthcare professionals desperate for employment.
How they approach you:
These individuals disguising themselves as employees of specific hospitals or clinics, falsely claiming to work for them. In the majority of cases, these supposed hospitals or clinics have no association with these scammers. They often offer jobs with salary packages that do not align with real market trends. This is the point where desperate healthcare professionals become eager to accept the terms and conditions. In many instances, they won't disclose the hospital's name or location, or they will provide genuine information, but their offer letters will bear fake hospital or clinic logos and contact details. Sometimes, these scammers have connections within the hospital for their fraudulent activities and after taking commission from you, the hospital will not take responsibility of yours.
Their Demands:
In exchange for the job, they will ask for the first complete salary or half of it in advance or on the day of joining as a commission. They will make every effort to persuade you to agree to their terms and conditions. If you propose paying after receiving your first salary and completing the licensing process with the employer, they will not agree. They always aim to secure their commission before the licensing process is completed.
How to identify that an offer is a scam:
1. Requiring money or commission to secure a job in the UAE is illegal.
2. Any involvement of a third party, such as a company or an agent, between the employer and the employee is typically a scam unless proven otherwise. However, reputable companies may assist in hiring for hospitals but do not ask for commissions from employees.
3. Most job offers received from your home country are scams in the majority of cases.
4. Job offers with high packages and incentives, not in line with real market trends, are likely scams designed to make you excited and agree to the scammer's terms and conditions.
5. If the person offering the job is reluctant to meet you or provide their address and hospital HR contact details, it's likely a fraud.
6. If you delay the conversation and the person starts pursuing you and bargaining, it's a clear scam.
7. Hospitals and clinics have their own HR departments with specific recruitment criteria. Reputable hospitals would not typically use third-party services unaware of their standards.
8. In their conversations, their main focus is on the business deal rather than your assistance. Their lack of professionalism and decency is evident of him as being a scammer.
9. Ensure that the hospital mentioned in the offer letter actually exists within the particular health authority registry because there are so many dummy hospitals and clinics scammers used for their scamming activities.
What You Should Do:
If you come across such offers, remember these guidelines when communicating with them. Do not make any advance payments, and request the hospital's HR details to verify the offer's legitimacy before accepting it. Always consult with colleagues in the UAE who hold similar positions before accepting any job offers.
